In an era that values personalized and sustainable travel, Airbnb's homestay market has welcomed a brand-new accommodation solution – expandable container homes converted from 40-foot shipping containers. This innovative accommodation unit not only breaks through the limitations of traditional architecture but also provides a unique experience for customers and travelers with its high efficiency, environmental friendliness, and immediate usability.

This is a 40-foot expandable container home we customized for a New Zealand client. Converted from a shipping container, it requires no additional container loading; simply seal it and it can be directly transported to the client's site. From solution design to production and assembly, from cross-border transportation to on-site delivery, we provide a one-stop service throughout the entire process, truly realizing our core promise of "zero worries for customers, ready-to-use products."

Modular Design, Flexible Space

After professional modification, the 40-foot shipping container can be extended into a fully functional living space, including two bedrooms: the master bedroom on the left and the secondary bedroom on the right. The bedrooms are decorated with wood veneer panels, paired with stone-plastic flooring, and equipped with wardrobes. Balancing privacy and practicality.

The kitchen and living room are located in the center, fully equipped with cabinets, marble countertops, a range hood, and a stove to meet travelers' self-service needs. Adjacent is the bathroom with a separate wet and dry area, featuring tiled floors and a non-slip shower floor, ensuring a comfortable experience within a compact design.
Factory Prefabrication, Rapid Deployment

The container's main structure is modified, interior decoration, and water and electricity pipelines are pre-installed in the factory, and it is directly transported to the customer's destination by sea. Upon arrival, only basic water and electricity connections are needed, along with furniture and appliances (such as bedding, air conditioning, and a refrigerator), and it's ready to operate. Customers can quickly launch on the Airbnb platform without a complicated renovation process, seizing the early opportunities in the homestay market.
Expandable container homestays are not only an innovation in architectural form but also represent the travel industry's pursuit of sustainable development and efficiency improvement. Whether used as distinctive homestays, temporary apartments, or campsite amenities, this "ready-to-use" model will open up more possibilities for future space utilization.
