Steel Container Body

Mandatory certificate for export to Germany

EN 1090 (since July 2014, replacing DIN 18800-7). Any steel/aluminium structure for the EU must carry EN 1090 certification.

Coating (RAL7016)

Charcoal grey – low heat island effect, good for hiding outdoor wear, commonly used for outdoor equipment in Germany.

Inner Liner – Polyurea Coating

Compliance requirement

For surfaces in contact with pool water (potentially drinking water quality), must meet German UBA requirements:

KTW-BWGL hygienic assessment (migration of organic substances)
DIN EN 12873-2 migration test
EC 10/2011 – overall migration ≤10 mg/dm²

Technical note

Aromatic polyurea (e.g., MDI) differs significantly from aliphatic grades in cost and food/water contact approval. Without proper certification, delamination or leaching may occur.

Action required

Obtain certified test reports from the polyurea supplier confirming compliance with KTW-BWGL or FDA/water contact standards recognised in Germany.

Electrical Equipment & Heat Pump

DIN VDE 0100-702 is the key regulation:

Protection zones around the pool
Equipotential bonding

– Higher IP ratings (IPX5/IPX8) for cleaning with pressure washers

Advantage: The specification explicitly states "EU standard" distribution box and compliance with electric shock protection measures.
Certification needed: Look for VDE mark on all electrical components (cables, switches, pumps).

Finishes & Insulation

Polyurethane foam insulation: Meets DIN 4102-1 (Class B2 – moderately flame retardant), acceptable for German building regulations.
Solid wood-plastic decking: Should comply with DIN EN 15534 regarding slip resistance (especially wet pool environment) and anti-mould properties.
Glass railing (special request): Must meet EN 15288-2 for pool barriers – design load and anti-climb height requirements.

Recommended Actions for Smooth Export

EN 1090 – EXC2 or higher

For a swimming pool intended for human occupancy, at least Execution Class 2 (EXC2) is recommended. Provide weld inspection reports by EU-recognised NDT personnel.

Structural calculation according to Eurocode

Submit static calculation for dimensions 11.8×2.2×1.8 m, including load distribution over polyurethane foam base and transport/soil interaction.

Glass railing load report

Provide structural verification of glass and posts in accordance with DGUV (German accident prevention regulations) – typical push force standards for pool railings.
